5 Reasons Why Living In an RV Can Be a Great Move During a Bad Economy

1 . Moving into an RV will force you to confront your piles of superfluous junk. You can then turn that junk into cash by selling it. That never-used bread maker can help pay down a credit card or add some cushion to your emergency fund.

2. During this process, you will learn a powerful secret: having less stuff frees you up to pursue other things. Your mind will be clearer. You will think of new ways to spend your time, like inventing a new product or starting a business.

3. Your cost of living will fall dramatically, and you will be released from worrying about that mortgage hanging over your head as house values continue to fall. Kiss high utility bills goodbye as well. Can’t live without internet or cable? Most RV parks give ‘em to you for free. The RV park we’re at right now costs $275 per month (plus electricity) and we get our cable and internet for free. You can’t beat that for a family of six.

4. If you lose your job (or you’ve already lost it), you can easily move to a new job. Just hook-up and drive. Flexibility during tough times is essential. You don’t want to be nursing a bloated mortgage after a layoff, and either have to sell it for a loss, or limit yourself to finding a job nearby.

5. You will be ready and able to travel and finally see some other places that might be riper with more opportunity than where you are now. You might stumble into an opportunity that can change the direction of your career… or even your life.

See you on the road!

I’m such a dreamer when it comes to uprooting my children and getting on the road. I’m working on getting my house ready to rent out so I can pursue the rving lifestyle. All of your points hit home with me making me want to jump off the inflated housing ship especially number 3. It really makes a lot of sense!
