So here I am sitting in a Circus Circus hotel room in sweltering Las Vegas, surrounded by kids, crumbs and chaos, listening to LeBron James philosophize on basketball on the tube, and unsurprisingly I’m struggling to put myself back to our time in Utah, which now seems like a million years ago. We’ve been through California since and experienced several different climates, hugged and kissed a variety of relatives, and visually feasted on views of mountains and beaches until thoroughly stuffed. I gotta tell ya, it’s been a fun ride so far.
But it’s time to reflect and share; that’s the point of this travel blog, right?
Here are some shots from SLC:
My brother is an amazing cook. He made us a spectacular dinner during our last night in Salt Lake. |
Roasted sweet baby peppers. |
Marinated chicken… |
…cooked on a cedar plank over an open flame. Amazing! |
For dessert? S’Mores of course! You cannot see from the picture, but the marshmallows are super-sized much to the kids’ collective delight. |
The marshmallows were so big, it took a long time to cook those suckers. |
Five hours later: still roasting. |
Clara: “What’s the hold up here? Feed me sugar!” |
Chris: “Ha ha, I tricked you into roasting un-roastable marshmallows! You’ll be here forever!” |
Someone finally went for the full-burn. The middle was still raw. |
Sophia: “This tastes good, but my blood sugar must be through the roof.” |
Papa boasted that he made the best S’More. It didn’t look any different to me. |
Bella assembling her S’More in trance-like state. |
Signing and sticky fingers do not mix. We essentially stopped all communication during this time. |
Passing on the American past-time to the young one. She now thinks that eating S’Mores is a weekly tradition. |
After dessert, we watched a super-cool storm cloud descend on a nearby mountain. |
